Samsung recently unveiled its new lineup of Samsung Galaxy S21 smartphones, I have spent the day with the Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus so I could report back on everything from the large 6.7-inch 120Hz display, the new Exynos 2100 performance to the amazing camera. So what is it like to use Samsung’s latest flagship in Kenya?
The Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus 5G is the weird middle child, There’s a better firstborn, the Galaxy S21 Ultra, and a smaller compact lastborn the Galaxy S21, but this is not a comparison so here are my first impressions of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus.

The Galaxy S21 Plus looks quite similar to the Galaxy S21. It has very appealing slim bezels with a single hole punch cutout for the front camera in the center of the top edge of the display. I have mine in Phantom Black. It’s beautiful! At the back, the phone sports a triple camera module that melds seamlessly into the frame of the phone in what Samsung calls the contour cut design. This makes the S21 Plus look less awkward than its predecessor’s even though it still has a noticeable camera hump.
The Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus has a matte glass finish, it is smooth to the touch, and isn’t a fingerprint magnet. Despite how big this device is, not once did it slip around in my hand. I haven’t worried about it dropping or sliding out of my pocket either.
The Samsung S21 Plus has a 1080p resolution coupled with 120Hz. It is a great Samsung Display. The 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED display is buttery smooth to use, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience scrolling my Twitter. The screen also has HDR10+ support for media consumption. It’s very bright outdoors, colors pop, the text is very crisp, and it is a flat display.
I immediately took the smartphone out for a stroll. Walking around the busty streets of Nairobi County with this mammoth phone is something else, it’s a statement. I was tempted to just snap everything I could see. The camera on the Galaxy S21 Plus is the best I have ever come across, it’s my first flagship from Samsung that I have used.
The S21 series saw a huge bump in terms of camera software. Photos from the main and Ultrawide camera look great, with wide dynamic range and nice colors. They have plenty of details and controlled noise. I’ll post some pictures I took on Instagram. Make sure you follow us over there.
