AfricArena Announces Winners at Tunis Summit 2023

The AfricArena Tunis AI, DeepTech, HealthTech & EdTech Summit, which took place from 11 – 12 October 2023, concluded on its second day with several engaging panel discussions, startup pitch tracks, and a dazzling awards ceremony. The event was a testament to the resilience of Tunisia’s tech and startup ecosystem, with the country emerging as a desert rose in North Africa’s tech landscape.

The summit saw intense and invigorating pitch battles over two days, showcasing the strength of Tunisian ecosystem support organizations. These organisations are collaborating and leveraging each other’s strengths to weather the current economic downturn and build robust startups with strong digital backbones.

Tunisia has proven itself as a pioneer in the tech industry, being the first African country to legislate the Startup Act. Startups from Tunisia and across Africa brought interesting propositions for investors and VC funds. The quality of each startup is indicative of Africa’s rapidly growing tech ecosystem within the global VC landscape.

AfricArena hosted its first edition of the summit in 2021 and 2022 under the AfricArena North Africa Summit banner. This year, it was renamed to AfricArena AI, DeepTech, HealthTech & EdTech Summit to align with Tunisia’s rise as an African and global AI and deep tech hub.

AfricArena founder and CEO Christophe Viarnaud expressed his admiration for the significant progression of Tunisia’s tech ecosystem over just a few years. He noted that investment in Tunisia has grown from below $2 million in 2018 to exceeding this amount now, making Tunisia an attractive investment destination.
