Airtel Money Kenya Ltd has announced that it has received approval from the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) to increase the daily transaction limit for its customers from the current KSh 300,000 to KSh 500,000. The increase will be effective from August 15, 2023.
The increase in the daily transaction limit is expected to benefit a wide range of Airtel Money customers, including businesses, government agencies, and individuals. Businesses will be able to conduct their transactions more conveniently and efficiently, while individuals will be able to access a wider range of goods and services. The increase will also support the growth of the digital economy in Kenya.
Airtel Money Managing Director Anne Kinuthia-Otieno said that the increase in the daily transaction limit is a positive step for the Kenyan economy. “This will allow businesses to conduct their operations more conveniently and efficiently, and consumers to access a wider range of goods and services,” she said. “This will contribute to economic growth, job creation, and improved financial stability in Kenya.”

The increase in the daily transaction limit is also a strategic move by Airtel Money to enable seamless and affordable digital transactions to all Kenyan citizens and businesses. The company recently announced that it has tripled its number of mobile money agents and targets to close at 120,000 agents by the end of 2023.
The daily transaction limit will increase from the current KSh 300,000 to KSh 500,000. The limit per transaction will remain at KSh 150,000 and customers can transact multiple times up to the limit of KSh 500,000 daily.
Airtel Money customers can increase their daily transaction limit by visiting an Airtel Money agent or by dialing *150#.
