Apple is hosting another launch event on October 18 dubbed Unleashed. The company is expected to release new MacBook Pro models and 3rd Gen AirPods.
After the iPhone 13 and Watch Series 7, the giant is now set to announce more at the unleashed event on October 18. While the initial teasers hint at speed only, rumours are ripe of a new MacBook Pro based on M1X chipset and a new third-gen AirPods.
If the rumours are true, Apple will end up putting the larger MacBook Pro models on its advanced ARM-based Apple Silicon chips. Apple has already updated the entry-level MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and the iMac to the M1 chip over the last year. The Pro models are expected to get the beefed-up M1X chip.
Apple October 18 event expectations
New MacBook Pro
Even though Apple is yet to hint at anything, leaks point to massive upgrades to the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. The biggest upgrade is expected to be the rumoured Apple M1X chip that will offer increased raw performance for professional workloads over the regular M1 chip.
The M1X chip would help Apple completely transition its laptop lineup to the Apple Silicon platform, leaving only the bigger Macs on the Intel chips. There is a chance that Apple could completely move over to Apple Silicon this year, offering no Intel models anymore.
Apart from the new chip, the new MacBook Pro models are also expected to get the mini LED display technology from the 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2021. Rumours are also suggestive of improved connectivity on the new model, the return of MagSafe charging, and the removal of the Touch Bar from the keyboard.
AirPods 3rd Gen
Apple is also expected to announce the 3rd generation AirPods at this October launch event. The new AirPods are expected to borrow the design and some features from the AirPods Pro but retain the lower price.
