Joe Mucheru, the Cabinet Secretary Ministry of ICT Innovation and Youth Affairs has appointed Dr. Paul Kipronoh Ronoh as acting CEO of ICT Authority following the retirement of Dr. Katherine Getao.

Dr. Gateo has served the authority for 35 years in different capacities and as the CEO for four years since December 2018.

Pursuant to section 34 of the Public Service Act and Paragraph 11 of LegalNotice No. 183 of 2013, Dr. Ronoh will serve as an Acting capacity with effect from 24th September 2021.

In a statement,  ICT Cabinet Secretary, Joe Mucheru, described Dr. Ronoh as an “ICT Guru” and noted that his appointment was one befitting Ronoh’s accomplishments in his efforts spearheading the country’s ICT sector.

Until his appointment, Dr. Rono was the Director, Standards of Programmes at the Authority.

He has held key senior positions in the past, among them: Head of ICT and Quality Management System at Kenya Urban Roads Authority and Head of ICT at Kenya Civil Aviation Authority.

Dr. Ronoh also spearheaded the development and implementation of ICT Standards and Governance for key ICT Infrastructure for the government.

He is currently leading the integration of technology in education in the country and is keen to see that ICT Standards are enforced across the Public Service.

Dr. Ronoh has a background in Computer Science and a Ph.D. in Leadership and Governance. Previously he served at the Kenya Urban Roads Authority, Civil Aviation Authority, and the Agricultural Finance Corporation.

The change at the ICT Authority comes at a time when Kenya Kenya has stepped up ICT investment in all sectors to spearhead economic growth and enhance service delivery.

Dr. Getao retires at a time when the Authority has streamlined governance issues where there is now a Strategic Plan (2020-24) and the Digital Infrastructure Master Plan (2020-29).

She has revitalized the development of optic fiber infrastructure through the introduction of integrated infrastructure development in collaboration with the Roads sector, and professional management of ICT infrastructure projects.
