Popular social media platform, Twitter has recently been introducing a lot of features in a bid to ‘repolish’ the app, here are some of the most significant changes so far;
Choosing who can reply Tweets
Twitter is officially testing a new feature that allows users to prohibit entire groups of people from replying to individual tweets. Twitter will now give users the ability to choose who can contribute to a conversation by introducing a ‘Who Can Reply’ Setting.
There are three settings to choose from:
- Everyone can reply
- Only people you follow can reply
- Only people you mention can reply
Other users will still be able to see tweets and quote reply, speaking of which;
Native quoted replies feature
Twitter has also begun testing a native new feature that will allow users to see all of a tweet’s retweets that include a comment. The update was confirmed by Twitter product lead Kayvon Beykpour in a tweet and that new functionality is now available on Twitter for Android and for the web
Fleets
Twitter is testing out a new feature called Fleets, this is its new own version of what we call stories on Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, and Snapchat.
Prompts to revise harmful replies
In its latest effort to deal with rampant harassment on its platform, Twitter will look into giving users a second chance before they tweet. In a new feature, the company is testing, users who use “harmful” language will see a prompt suggesting that they self-edit before posting a reply.
Native Tweet Scheduling
Twitter has also been testing out a tweet scheduling feature for a couple of months and has now begun to roll out the feature out to users. This feature will let users schedule tweets from Twitter itself. At present, the feature is limited only to Twitter’s desktop app
