US tech giant Apple on Monday released its latest iOS 16 operating system update and it includes fascinating new features like a lock screen with widgets, an unsend and edit feature for iMessage, new keyboard haptics, a new Home app, and much more.
The lock screen has received the most obvious improvements as users can now add widgets, customize the way it looks with new depth effects that adapt to wallpapers, and more. On the new iPhone 14 Pro models, the lock screen on ios 16 will have an always-on display.
iMessage users also get a few new features like the ability to edit a message for up to 15 minutes after it is sent and two minutes to unsend a message. There is also a new “mark as unread” feature and audio messages on iOS 16 now have the ability to fast-forward or rewind while being listened to.
Apple’s built-in Mail app also gets a new scheduled send option in iOS 16 alongside the ability to quickly unsend an e-mail right after you send it.
Another cool feature is the option to turn on the built-in keyboard haptics on iOS 16. The new update also brings a redesigned Home app with new camera views and widgets on the lock screen and the ability to control an Apple Watch from an iPhone.
Users will also be able to copy text from videos now. For the privacy conscious, Apple is adding a Lockdown Mode to iOS 16, which adds “extreme” protection for people who might be targeted by state-sponsored spyware.
Finally you will now also need FaceID to look at your recently deleted images and videos on the new iOS 16.
