Forget about your planned killer outfit, Afro-pop band Sauti Sol has canceled the much-hyped ‘Sol Saturday’ concert that was scheduled to take place today on Saturday, October 19.
The Nerea band said that they decided to cancel the event after coming to a conclusion that the size of the event was a hazard as it did not comply with Kenya’s COVID-19 protocols and regulations.
“We regret to inform you that we shall not be performing at today’s scheduled ‘Sol Saturday” event. Although we deeply desire to give you a marvelous show, we can not in good conscience assure your health and safety which is our highest priority,” reads a statement from Sauti Sol.
The four-man band also assured promoters of the event, Tukutane Entertainment Limited and Masshouse Group, that they would refund the money they had received immediately so that they also refund fans the money they had used to purchase tickets.
The canceled concert was supposed to take place at the Waterfront Mall in Karen, Nairobi, from midday to 8 pm. The event’s tickets were going for around Sh2,500 to Sh6,000.
“It is disheartening and unfortunate, but necessary and we hope to appear on stage again as soon as we can do so safely and responsibly,” Sauti Sol regretted.
Netizens have taken to social media as expected to try and understand why their favorite band could cancel at the last minute. Here are some hilarious reactions:
