Companies are leaning into the foldable market a lot. After Huawei launched the P50 pocket and OPPO showed off the OPPO Find N, Smartphone brand Honor has also unveiled its first foldable smartphone called the Honor Magic V.

Almost identical to the Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold devices, the foldable combines a large internal folding display with a smaller external display that can be used while the device is folded.

The Magic V’s folding screen is 7.9″ and has a resolution of 2272 x 1984 with a refresh rate of 90Hz, and an aspect ratio of 10:9. This is slightly bigger than Samsung’s Z Fold 3 7.6 inches screen.

The smaller display measures 6.45″ with a resolution of 2560 x 1080, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 21:9 aspect ratio.

The Magic V is powered by the latest and flashiest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage.

According to Honor CEO George Zhao, the device can survive being folded and unfolded 200,000 times and its water-drop hinge helps make the display appear “creaseless.”

The Magic V gets its juice from a 4,750mAh battery which supports 66W charging and Honor says you can fully charge the battery in 40 minutes or to 50 percent of its capacity in just 15 minutes.

The device has five cameras in total; a rear triple set up with a wide camera, ultra-wide camera, and what Honor calls a “spectrum enhanced camera, all are 50MP sensors and a pair of 42-MP selfie cameras.

The Honor Magic V’s price starts at 9,999 Yuan (nearly $1,569) for the 256GB storage model and and RMB 10,999 ($1,726) for the 512GB version. It will be available in three colors: orange, silver, and black

The Honor Magic V will be available for purchase in China from the 18th of January 2022.
