You might run into the ‘Your Windows license will expire soon’ prompt if you recently upgraded to Windows 11 from Windows 10.
PS. Windows 11 is a free upgrade. This means everyone with an activated Windows 10 does not have to buy Windows 11.
Find Windows 11 Product Key on your PC
If you had an activated Windows 10, all you need to get rid of the ‘Your Windows license will expire soon’ Windows 11 error is to re-enter your Product Key.
The product key for new computers comes preinstalled with Windows 10 and 11 and is stored within the motherboard firmware. Users can retrieve it by issuing a command from the command prompt.
- Press Windows key + X
- Click Windows Terminal (Admin)
- At the command prompt, type:
wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey
This will reveal your product key. Copy it.
- Head over to your settings>System and click on change Activation Key
- Paste the Product Key and you’re done.
Get a new Windows license key
If you did not have an official Windows 10 license key, you will need to buy the official version to get rid of this issue.
