Core i9-12900KS

Intel has released its 12th-Gen Intel Core i9-12900KS special edition processor claiming it is the “world’s fastest desktop processor”.

The Intel Core i9-129000KS

The Intel Core i9-12900KS CPU is a high-performance 12th-Gen Intel processor with a maximum turbo frequency of 5.5GHz for desktops. For the first time, the CPU may reach its maximum frequency on up to two cores, allowing for high gaming performance.

The processor contains 24 threads and 16 cores (eight Performance cores and eight Efficiency cores). It also has a basic power of 150W and a 30MB Intel Smart Cache.

Thermal Velocity Boost and Adaptive Boost technologies are also included in the i9-12900KS to help with thermal difficulties and deliver more power. It also supports DDR5 4800 MT/s and DDR4 3200 MT/s RAM, as well as PCIe Gen 4.0 and 5.0, and is backward compatible with Z690 motherboards.

When compared to the Intel Core i9-12900HK, which was released early this year at CES 2022 and offers up to 5GHz max frequency with 14 cores, the i9-12900KS is definitely superior, with more cores and a higher max frequency. It also outperforms AMD’s Ryzen 9 5900X, which has a basic clock speed of 4.8GHz.

Availability and Cost

The “suggested consumer pricing” for the 12th-Gen Intel Core i9-12900KS is $739. The CPU will be sold as a “boxed processor” from Intel’s official channels and OEM partners to stores all over the world, according to Intel.
