Low-cost Kenyan carrier Jambojet has announced the launch of a progressive web app (PWA) that will now allow customers to book their tickets, check-in and access their boarding pass on their smartphones.
Choosing not to go the playstore standard app route, Jambojet Head of Information Systems Benjamin Collins said the PWA, which is available on both Android and iOS as a type of application software delivered through the web, will offer convenience to customers while streamlining processes, to save time and help reduce physical touch points.
“Unlike the standard mobile apps or the web, PWAs consume less data and are reliable even in uncertain network conditions. This is part of our commitment to continue offering innovative solutions that are responsive to our customer needs,” Collins said
The continuous growth of Kenya’s digital population is the key drive to going fully digital. “We will keep updating the app with more functionalities to streamline the customer journey,” he added.
To get the app on your smartphone, head over to the Jambojet website, here you will receive a prompt to add the app to the device. A click on the prompt will add the PWA to the homepage of your smartphone or tablet and you will be able to access it at any time.
More perks of having the app are instant notifications of upcoming trips, track their flight status, and receive automated updates on any delays or changes to their itinerary right on your apps notifications panel.
