The Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) has released a stern warning to students regarding exam irregularities following their Students Examinations Disciplinary Committee meeting on February 21st and 22nd, 2024. The committee expressed concern over the increased use of mobile phones and electronic devices within examination venues.
JKUAT’s official statement emphasizes that possession or use of electronic devices like mobile phones, MP3/MP4 players, iPods, Bluetooth devices, programmable calculators, or any other unauthorized equipment is a serious violation of the University Common Examination Regulations. Students found guilty of this offense face a one-year suspension from the university.
Additionally, the university has highlighted the severe consequences of using AI-powered coding software like ChatGPT during exams. This is considered a grave offense under the University Examination Regulations and can lead to expulsion.
The university strongly urged students to uphold academic integrity and avoid unpleasant consequences by strictly adhering to the examination regulations. Students are encouraged to thoroughly familiarize themselves with the University Common Examination Regulations, which are available on the official JKUAT website.
