19-year-old internet sensation and a social media star, Elsa Majimbo has been nominated for E! Peoples Choice Awards, African Social Star Category.
The comic who rose to fame for her satirical monologues that usually feature her crunching potato crisps, leaning back on a pillow while wearing tiny 1990s sunglasses becomes the youngest person ever to be nominated for the award.
The social media star became widely known in South Africa after a video of her making fun of the lockdown and social distancing went viral in April.
Since then, she has garnered over 700k Instagram followers and even received brand endorsements from the likes of Rihanna’s Luxury clothing brand Fenty
The E! People’s Choice Award is an American awards show that recognizes people in the entertainment industry, voted online by the general public and fans. The annual show has been in existence since 1975. Originally, winners were determined using Gallup Polls until 2005 when it was switched to voting.
