Apple Inc. has slashed Apple Music prices by half. If you used to pay Sh532.66 ($4.99) a month, it is now only Sh319.17 ($2.99). The family account price has also been slashed to $4.99. For students, it will cost Sh159.05 ($1.49) to access to over 50 million songs that the platform boasts of hosting.
Previously, Apple offered new subscribers a free 3-month trial of the service, now, new users will get 6 months for free.
The move is set to give Apple an upper-hand together with Deezer to offer “local” giant Boomplay a run for the top place.
Another particular advantage of Apple’s move is that all other music streaming platforms will rush to counter their pricing.
Spotify, due to “content licensing processes” will still not cover Kenya. Users have to go through bypassing methods like using VPNs in order to access it.
Apple Music is available in iTunes, and for iOS and Android devices.
