KRA online auction

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced an online auction to clear overstayed cargo at the Port of Mombasa. The auction will run from Monday, August 14 to Sunday, August 20, 2023.

The goods to be auctioned include brand-new and used motor vehicles, household materials, personal effects, bags of gypsum powder, assorted furniture, used clothing, books, and motor vehicle spare parts among others.

How to Bid and Participate in KRA Online Auction

Interested bidders can participate in the online auction by:

  1. Heading to the auction through the KRA website
  2. Logging in using a personal tax PIN and password.
  3. Inspecting and placing bids on available products.

This is not the first time that KRA has auctioned overstayed cargo. In June 2023, the tax body auctioned goods worth Sh500 million at the Export Processing Zone in Athi River. In previous years, KRA has also auctioned goods stored in different warehouses across the country.

The online auction is part of KRA’s efforts to clear the backlog of overstayed cargo at the Port of Mombasa. The tax body says that the auction will help to free up space at the port and improve efficiency.

KRA has also warned that it will destroy any goods that are not claimed after the auction. This is to discourage people from importing goods and then abandoning them at the port.

The online auction is a good opportunity for businesses and individuals to acquire goods at a discounted price. However, it is important to carefully inspect the goods before bidding to avoid any surprises.
