If you’ve been following Techspace Africa for a while, you know we’ve been covering the launch and adoption of 5G in Kenya, we told you when Safaricom officially rolled out 5G in March, of Airtels plans on launching their 5G and have even covered the available 5G devices you can buy in the country right now
Now, OPPO Kenya wants has confirmed its plans to introduce a wide range of 5G-enabled products in the market beginning with the OPPO Reno6 that is set to launch in Kenya in early September.
“As 5G is in its initial rollout stages in Kenya, OPPO is keen on playing a key role towards the growth of the network by availing more 5G-enabled devices in the country. The anticipated OPPO Reno6 device that will launch in Kenya in early September will be our first 5G device coming through our distribution channels, and the most affordable.” OPPO states in a statement.
OPPO Kenya says their 5G smartphones will serve as an enabler of ‘intelligent connectivity’ – the fusion of 5G, AI, and IOT bridging people to the world of immersive entertainment, enhanced public services, and even more.
“To meet consumers’ growing enthusiasm for videos in 5G era, OPPO 5G smartphones are able to create a seamless experience covering video shooting, optimizing, and editing for users with innovative technologies and applications, such as SoLoop smart video editor app which have successfully optimized the process of filming, editing, viewing, and sharing. These are features that users will get to enjoy with the introduction of the OPPO Reno6.” Muthoni Wachira, Head of Communications and Projects at OPPO Kenya states.
“In general, the lightning speed that 5G provides is just further optimization of the previous generation of mobile network technology. It is the most fundamental of experiences that 5G technology provides and the most perceptible in our daily lives.”
OPPO officially unveiled the OPPO Reno6 and Oppo Reno6 Pro 5G last month. The Reno 6 series succeeds the recently launched Reno5 that offered an okay price to performance ratio.
According to XDA, there are no major upgrades on the Reno 6 series with OPPO focusing on tweaking a few things here and there and improving on the shortcomings of the Reno 5 series.
Notable differences are on the Reno 6 Pro include a 3D curved display, which sees OPPO move away from the previous flat design. Read the full specs sheet here
