Oppo Reno 5

Smartphone giant OPPO Kenya has today officially unveiled its latest devices under the Reno Series, the Oppo Reno 5 and Reno 5 in the Kenyan market.

When you first hold the device, you immediately feel how lightweight it is, the device has a plastic slim profile, lightweight, and sleek aesthetic build. It fits comfortably in your hand, easily slips into your pocket, only weighing about 171g and only 7.8mm thick

The Oppo Reno 5 comes with a FHD+ AMOLED display with a 180Hz touch sampling rate. This gives you up to 90Hz refresh rate bringing visual smoothness to the 6’4 inch display.

Coupled with the 8nm-class Snapdragon 720G processor, The Reno 5 handled any task I put it through simultaneously without lagging, 90HZ, faster processing due to the 8GB RAM, Call of Duty Mobile ran on max settings smoothly.

The Reno 5 sports a quad-camera set up at the back which holds a 64 MP Main Camera, an 8 MP Ultra Wide Camera, a 2 MP Macro camera, and a 2 MP Depth Sensor. The selfie shooter is a 44 MP sensor. A full review is definitely in the works!

The Reno 5 is the first android smartphone to introduce an industry-first feature the AI Mixed Portrait –the first double exposure video effect for smartphones. This feature lets you blend yourself and a background video together to create videos with a striking artistic vibe.

The Oppo Reno 5 also brings AI Highlight Video, an industry-leading feature that uses intelligent light detection to combine OPPO’s advanced Ultra Night Video Algorithms and Live HDR Algorithms to significantly enhance video quality in dim and backlit scenes.

Still at Video, The Oppo Reno 5 offers Soloop™, a ‘compact video editing application made for smartphones that allow users to edit photos and videos manually and put their creativity into it with some transitions, texts,  filters, and music.

The Oppo Reno 5 comes with a  65W SuperVOOC flash charging adapter, which supports up to 50W flash charge for the Oppo Reno 5, which gives you up to 3 hours of video playback with just a 5 minutes charge. The phone charges its 4310mAh battery from 0-100 pc in just 48 minutes.

While using the Reno 5, I enjoyed the Smart AirControl feature that let me use remote hand gestures to answer calls, mute sounds, and scroll through my favorite social media apps. Android 11 and Color OS 11 also bring cool new features like flex drop which lets you shrink the app you’re using into a floating or mini window so you can monitor it while using other apps.

The new flagship is DRM L1 certified meaning you can watch your favorite shows in HD on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. In terms of audio, the device lags behind as it only has a single stereo but supports Dolby Atmos so that should suffice I guess.

Oppo Reno 5 Price

The device is available in fantasy silver with its shimmery PICASUS coating which sparkles in a multitude of colors or starry black, a cosmic black. Both are fingerprint-resistant.

The device will cost you Sh 41,999.
