oppo reno6 5g

So I have had the OPPO Reno6 5G for some time now… No, but I have, OPPO Kenya recently unveiled the device in the Kenyan Market offering it as their first 5G capable device in the market thanks to the powerful Dimensity 900 chipset, but 5G is far from being adopted in the market with only a countable few having access to the ultra-fast bandwidth, so how does the device hold up in other areas, is it worth the hefty penny it’s retailing for?

But first, let’s unbox the OPPO Reno6 5G

What’s in the box?

OPPO Reno6 5G First Impressions

The OPPO Reno6 5G is a beautiful device and is available in two colors options — Stellar Black and Aurora — OPPO Kenya were kind enough to send me the Aurora variant that changes color based on any stream of light falling on it to manifest a glowing look.

In terms of build, the phone is lightweight, at just 182g it is easy to hold, take out of your pocket when you receive a call, and all that normal day to day use, the device also sports the strong Corning Gorilla Glass 5 to prevent scratches from coins and keys in your pocket.

Speaking of hold, I will go ahead and call it, the device is an iPhone copy, the phone looks like the latest generation of Apple smartphones with the hard edges that wrap around the Reno 6’s chassis. The corners are rounded and the transition from the sides to the display is solid and beautiful. To top off the high build quality, OPPO has equipped the new Reno 6 with an anti-fingerprint back matte finish.

In simpler terms, once you adjust to these corners, the OPPO Reno6 5G is a joy to hold.

The display is a gorgeous edge-to-edge (~88.3% screen-to-body ratio) 6.43′ 1080p AMOLED display that gets super bright at 430 nits (typ), 600 nits (HBM), and 750 nits (peak). To top it off, you get a smooth 90hz refresh rate. The display has been one of my favorite features on the device, that and the haptic feedback.

No device has zero flaws and the OPPO Reno6 5G is not any different, It would be unfair to rate the device after only a few days of use but the device lacks a stereo speaker configuration, a 3.5mm jack, no extendable memory slot, no OIS and video stabilization and well, this will all affect my final review.
