oppo watch 2

As previously announced via its official Weibo account last week, OPPO is slated to launch its second-generation smartwatch tomorrow on 27th July. However, thanks to several alleged promotional images that were recently leaked online, we have a better look at the design and features offered by the upcoming OPPO Watch 2.

From the photos provided by reliable leakster Evan Blass (aka EvLeaks) via Twitter, the new smartwatch is shown to arrive with an almost similar design as its predecessor. This includes sporting a curved display that is encased in what appears to be an aluminum alloy frame, with two physical buttons situated on the right-hand side.

In terms of features, it looks like the upcoming OPPO smartwatch will include an onboard calling function and GPS capabilities. There are hints of a built-in eSIM support and a GPS chip – both of which have been featured on last year’s model.

Meanwhile, an early listing on Chinese online retailer JD.com revealed that the Watch 2 will come with remote camera control and, interestingly, a so-called gaming mode feature. It is not known how the latter actually works.

Specs-wise, previous leaks claim that the device will be equipped with a Snapdragon Wear 4100 SoC, together with a secondary Apollo 4s chip. Also onboard is said to be a storage capacity of 16GB and various health tracking capabilities, including stress detection. Much like its predecessor, the new smartwatch will arrive in 42mm and 46mm sizes and could also feature some level of water and dust resistance.

Lastly, the OPPO Watch 2 is said to run on a wearable version of the brand’s Color OS interface, but this may change for its potential international release. Using its predecessor as a reference, there’s a chance that the global version of the watch might feature Wear OS instead, although it is not known if OPPO would feature the newly relaunched version of the interface that is jointly developed by Google and Samsung.

Details such as its pricing and availability are still unknown at this time.
