PayPal is Mass Locking Accounts, Witholding All the Money

A few months ago while looking for an idea for a guest blog post, I came across a distressed PayPal user on the popular social media platform Twitter who had seen all his money withheld permanently by the American company.

In the last few days, I have stumbled on more than a dozen Tweets of fuming people complaining of having been robbed of their hard-earned money by the platform. Right now PayPal is trending with over 85,000 tweets.

A good number of Kenyans have been complaining that as soon as they receive payments, PayPal immediately puts their money on hold asking for legal documents before finally closing down their accounts and withholding all their money.

PayPal says if they detect unusual transactions on your account, or if it requires more information from you, they can lock or limit access to your account. This is to prevent fraudulent activity on the platform.

Paypal also says you can inquire as to why your account was locked, and ask for a review, a painful procedure that seems to bear no positive outcome.

There are other customers who seem to be going through more issues on the platform:

Do you use PayPal? Have you been facing the same problem?
