Our review unit is Meteor Black in color but the device is also available in Sunburst Gold and Stargaze White.

We get a fairly large 6.4 inches display with relatively slim bezels, a small selfie camera cutout at the top left, a slightly thicker bottom chin, and a decent 84.2% screen-to-body ratio. The realme 9 has a Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate panel which delivers a fast and smooth feel with your taps and touches, one of the top reasons to consider this device. This is a great-looking display from top to bottom.

In the hand, while this is one of the bigger taller devices, it doesn’t feel too overwhelming, but this form factor is what we’re all probably used to nowadays

Around back, the realme 9 is all glossy, it offers a fairly premium build for its pricepoint for sure, yeah you definitely collect all the fingerprints but the shine and finish look super nice, it’s subtle too. And the flat frame finishes off the higher-end feel. Overall a good-looking device from front to back.

In terms of physical buttons, you get your volume rockers on the left and a power button with your sim and extendable MicroSD slot on the right.

The realme 9 has an in-display fingerprint sensor, In my initial testing and setup, I didn’t notice any issues at all it was quick and easy to configure, and it wakes and unlocks the phone fairly fast and consistently.

The device runs on the mid SD680 paired with 8GB Ram and 128GB storage, not the best out there but pretty cheap given it’s the same chip in the far more expensive OPPO Reno7 4g. Still, the cpu is still a very capable chipset falling perfectly into this price point. Overall the realme 9 is going to be a fully capable device, ready to handle any apps, tasks, or games you throw at it.

In terms of battery, the device has a 5000mAh battery with support for 33w fast charging which gets you 50% in just 30 mins.

Stay tuned for an in-depth review full with a test of the 108MP main camera slapped on the budget device.
