Counterpoint’s Tarun Pathak further states that Xiaomi performed quite well across Europe, China and India as smartphone demand in those markets normalized.

Xiaomi was also China’s fastest-growing OEM thanks to its Redmi 9, Note 9 series, and Redmi K-series phones. On the other side, Samsung is facing production issues in Vietnam which have negatively affected its shipment numbers.

The Chinese smartphone maker was recently named the world’s No. 2 smartphone maker by a report by market research firm Canalys finally dethroning United States manufacturer Apple Inc.

Overtaking Apple Inc in the second quarter of 2021, Xiaomi took the second spot for the first time with a 17pc share of worldwide smartphone shipments, up from 14pc the previous quarter

According to the research firm. Global smartphone shipments grew 12pc in the second quarter, led by Samsung Electronics with a 19pc share, and Apple at third place with a 14pc share.
