Samsung South Africa has launched a new initiative called “Everyday Sustainability” to encourage consumers to make small but meaningful changes in their daily lives to help the environment.
The initiative focuses on four key areas:
- Recycled materials: Samsung is committed to using recycled materials in its products and packaging. For example, the latest Galaxy S23 series uses more recycled plastics and newly incorporated pre-consumer recycled aluminum and glass.
- Eco-packaging: Samsung is also working to reduce the environmental impact of its packaging. For example, the company is replacing plastic and vinyl materials with paper and recycled materials.
- Energy efficiency: Samsung is designing its products to be more energy-efficient. For example, the company’s TVs and appliances now use less energy than ever before.
- Recycling and upcycling: Samsung is also working to make it easier for consumers to recycle their old electronics. The company has partnered with a number of recycling organizations to make it easy for consumers to drop off their old electronics for recycling.
In addition to these four key areas, Samsung is also working to educate consumers about sustainability and how they can make a difference. The company has launched a number of educational initiatives, including a website and a social media campaign.
“We believe that everyone has a role to play in protecting the environment,” said Samsung South Africa CEO, Bongani Khumalo. “With ‘Everyday Sustainability,’ we are encouraging consumers to make small changes that can have a big impact.”
The “Everyday Sustainability” initiative is part of Samsung’s broader commitment to sustainability. The company has set a goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
“We are committed to making a positive impact on the environment,” said Khumalo. “‘Everyday Sustainability’ is just one way that we are working to achieve this goal.”
