asus zenbook oled 13

With an 11th Gen Core i7 CPU, support of up to 32GB of LPPDDR4 RAM, 1 TB of PCIe 3.0 NVMe SSD, WiFi 6, and an OLED HDR NanoEdge with 100pc DCI-P3 gamut FHD display, the Asus ZenBook OLED 13 is absolutely stunning on paper.

Today, we take a closer look at the 13.3-inch ZenBook 13 OLED, from the display to performance to the battery life.

Asus ZenBook OLED 13 Build and Design

The ZenBook OLED 13 is built with a lightweight, diamond-cut aluminum alloy that guarantees military-grade durability. The premium device weighs just 1.14 kg and with a side profile of 13.9 mm, the device is the perfect compact, thin and ultralight ideal traveling companion that you can take anywhere.

The ErgoLift design of ASUS ZenBook 13 OLED results in the keyboard automatically tilting when the laptop is opened. This design allows users to type more comfortably and also increases the ventilation space under the chassis for improved heat dissipation.

Keyboard and Numpad

An edge-to-edge design utilizes all space in the compact form factor of ZenBook 13 OLED. The keyboard achieves a 19.05 mm pitch (the distance between the middle of a key to the middle of its adjacent key) while retaining many commonly used function keys, enabling users to type comfortably with accuracy. The keyboard is backlit for convenient typing in dark environments such as flights.

ZenBook 13 OLED is available with the ASUS NumberPad 2.0, an LED-illuminated numeric keypad integrated in the touchpad that makes up for the lack of physical numeric keypads in compact laptops. A single-touch sensor at the top-right of the touchpad turns NumberPad on and off, and a tap on the icon at the top left lets you choose one of two brightness levels. You can also swipe from the top left icon in any direction on the NumberPad 2.0 to activate the Calculator app on the main display.

The NumberPad It gives users a productive way to enter numbers, solving the age-old problem of the lack of a numeric keypad on compact laptops. With NumberPad, they can quickly perform data entry or calculations, and in touchpad mode, the glass covering provides super-smooth and precise fingertip control with multi-touch gesture support.

Asus ZenBook OLED 13 Display

While the ZenBook’s screen is only FHD (1920 x 1080) resolution, the OLED screen delivers vibrant colors and crisp details. The display offers an ultrawide color gamut of 100% DCI-P3, which is widely used in the motion picture industry and is PANTONE Validated to provide the most precise color accuracy.

It reaches up to 368 nits in brightness and has 70pc less harmful blue light than a normal LCD and is TÜV Rheinland Eye Care certification. Disappointingly there’s no touchscreen option.

Asus ZenBook OLED 13 Performance

With thin and light form factors, the ZenBook 13 OLED is equipped with the 11th gen Intel Core processors and supports up to 32 GB of memory and a 1TB PCIe 3.0 NVMe SSD which makes the small device very capable of handling tasks that are more computationally intensive.

The Intel Core i7-1165G7 is an energy-efficient quad-core processor based on the current Tiger Lake architecture. It has a base clock speed of 2.8 GHz and boosts to a Turbo clock speed of up to 4.7 GHz (4.1 GHz on all cores).

On the Handbrake video transcoding test, which tests how fast a laptop can convert a 4K video to 1080p resolution, the ZenBook 13 took 16 minutes and 50 seconds. This beats the average premium laptop (16:06) and the Spectre x360 13 (18:39).

The ZenBook 13’s 512GB SSD is a beast duplicating a 25GB multimedia file in 52 seconds at a rate of 513.2 MBps. This beats the XPS 13 (512GB SSD, 405.6 MBps) and the Spectre x360 13 (512GB SSD, 452.6 MBps).

Asus ZenBook OLED 13 Battery Life

The ZenBook 13 OLED is equipped with a 67 Wh battery which can provide up to 13 hours of battery life — more than enough to cover a day of work or play unplugged. They also offer a fast-charge function, charging from 2pc to 60pc in just 49 minutes using two Thunderbolt™ 4 USB-C® ports that support fast charging.

Asus ZenBook OLED 13 Connectivity

ZenBook 13 OLED gives you a full complement of I/O ports, including full-size HDMI and USB Type-A ports. The power of Thunderbolt™ 4 is also at your disposal, with two Thunderbolt™ 4 USB-C® ports that support fast charging, 4K UHD external displays, and up to 40Gbps data transfers. For easy transfers of data from your mobile devices, there’s also a microSD card reader.

The device also features Intel Wi-Fi 6 which offers speeds of up to 2.4 Gbps, and provides up to 3Xhigher throughput and 4X the network capacity of WiFi 5 (802.11ac). The network card also incorporates Bluetooth 5.0 for connection to Bluetooth-enabled devices.

Unfortunately, In the process of making the ZenBook even thinner, lighter, and with the edge-to-edge keyboard design, the traditional 3.5 mm audio jack has been omitted. Asus, however, includes a USB-C® to 3.5 mm dongle for users who want to connect via a 3.5 mm audio jack. The dongle has Hi-Res Audio certification to ensure outstanding audio experiences.
