Our review unit is Shimmer Black in color and has a beautiful matte finish that feels good to touch. The device is also available in a Shimmer Gold variant.

The Reno8 brings a new and refreshed design, which was about time the old design was pretty good but it was getting old.

We get a fairly large 6.4-inch AMOLED display, a small selfie camera cutout at the top left, a slightly thicker bottom chin, with a 90Hz refresh rate panel.

This device feels great on the hand and won’t leave fingerprints and marks because of the matte finish.

While this is one of the bigger taller devices, it doesn’t feel too overwhelming, it’s subtle and the flat frame finishes off the higher-end feel albeit plasticky. Overall a good-looking device from front to back.

In terms of physical buttons, you get your volume rockers on the left and a power button with a green accent on the right. Neat touch.

The OPPO Reno8 5G has an in-display fingerprint sensor, In my initial testing and setup, I didn’t notice any issues at all it was quick and easy to configure, and it wakes and unlocks the phone fairly fast and consistently. I would suggest trying to register your fingerprint twice for faster results.

The Oppo Reno 8 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1300 chipset that is fast and efficient, coupled with 8GB RAM, you won’t be facing any lag issues.

The Oppo Reno 8 5G has a 4500mAh battery that OPPO says can last up to 2 days with light to moderate usage. We should have a conclusive review of this in our final draft. However, something we have tested is the charging speeds.

OPPO Reno8 5G 80W Fast Charging Test

The device comes with an 80W SuperVOOC charger that charges it from 0 to 100% in just about half an hour. We tested it and got the same results. This is fast and convenient when you are traveling on the go. The device did not heat up even during charging and yes! the charger is available inside the box.

Overall, the device leaves a very good first impression. Stay tuned for an in-depth review full with a test of the 64MP main camera slapped on the new Reno8 5G.
