TikTok app downloads were more than 57 million, Sensor Tower’s Store Intelligence platform data showed. The most downloads of TikTok were from Douyin in China at 17 percent and the United States (US) with 11 percent. Facebook-owned Instagram came in 2nd.

Instagram was first runners up in the list of most downloads worldwide with more than 56 million installs, which is a 31pc increase since the previous month. The countries which had the most downloads included India with 39pc, followed by Brazil with 6pc.

However, Instagram topped the Google Play Downloads worldwide, where TikTok stood at spot 3.

Facebook, WhatsApp, and Telegram found their place in the top 5 downloaded non-game list of October 2021, besides TikTok and Instagram. Snapchat, Messenger, Shopping app – Meesho, Spotif,y and video editor – CapCut also made it to the list of top 10.

According to the Sensor Tower and MAAS data, shopping apps reached 113 million downloads in October 2021, the first time since October 2020 when the category had reached its threshold. Shopping app, Meesho, which secured the eighth spot in the top 10 list of apps by overall downloads, contributed more than 12 million downloads.
