WhatsApp is Deleting User Accounts, Here is Why

whatsapp privacy policy

WhatsApp users may be left without access to the popular Facebook-owned chat app unless they accept new terms and conditions in the next few months.

For the first time, Whatsapp is going to announce updates inside the application itself on 1 February 2021. According to WABetaInfo, users will be prompted to agree with the changed terms and conditions failure to which their accounts with the essential messaging app will be deleted.

In leaked Screenshots, the notification from WhatsApp reads: “By tapping Agree, you accept the new terms, which take effect on February 8, 2021… After this date, you’ll need to accept the new terms to continue using WhatsApp or you can always delete your account.”

The new terms and conditions are rumored to revolve around its usage of data and information of its user.

WhatsApp had hinted at these changes in a blog post published in October. “We believe these additional experiences on WhatsApp meet a real need for many people and businesses whether they are around the corner or across the world. We’re excited about what lies ahead and we’ll gradually roll out these services in the months to come.”
