WhatsApp Will No Longer Work on These Devices From January 1st

According to a 2019 report, WhatsApp is the most used social media platform in Kenya at 88.6pc so reports that the messaging service will stop supporting some devices is a big deal.

Starting on New Year’s Eve some iPhone and Android models will no longer be able to support Facebook’s WhatsApp Messenger. This is because the popular messenger will stop working on particular older models.

The messenger app will no longer be supported by certain smartphone models that are not running iOS 9 or Android 4.0.3 operating systems, from January 2021.

This means all users with iPhone 4, and all earlier models will have no access to the app. However, if you use the iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6S, all you have to do to get WhatsApp is to update your software to iOS 9.

“On iOS 8, you can no longer create new accounts or reverify existing accounts. If WhatsApp is currently active on your iOS 8 device, you’ll be able to use it until February 1, 2020.

“For the best experience, we recommend you use the latest version of iOS available for your phone.”
