Women Who Build Africa

Women Who Build Africa (WWBA), a community dedicated to supporting women leaders in tech across Africa, is excited to announce their second annual assembly in Nairobi, Kenya. This two-day event, taking place on September 5th and 6th, 2023, promises to be a valuable platform for founders, investors, and operators to connect, learn, and grow.

Founded in 2022 by Gwera Kiwana and Thea Sokolowski, WWBA aims to bridge the gap for underrepresented women and non-binary individuals in the African tech scene. They provide a nurturing environment for founders, investors, and operators to network, share ideas, and access crucial support systems.

This year’s assembly, held in collaboration with the Africa Fintech Summit, offers a packed agenda:

  • Day 1 (September 5th): Interactive workshops designed for founders, including a unique “reverse pitch” session where investors present their firms.
  • Day 2 (September 6th): Early-stage pitch competition featuring ten exceptional women founders from across Africa.
  • Full Conference Day: Panel discussions, fireside chats, networking events, and more.

The inaugural assembly fostered a space for open dialogue, knowledge sharing, and crucial discussions around funding challenges faced by female-led startups. WWBA recognizes the importance of these connections in empowering women entrepreneurs and fostering a more inclusive tech ecosystem in Africa.

Tickets for the WWBA Assembly are available for purchase via Hustlesasa or the Africa Fintech Summit website. Women founders interested in pitching their ventures can apply here.
