whatsapp multi-device

Meta has recently completed the global rollout of HD photo and video sharing on WhatsApp, a feature that was eagerly awaited by its vast user base. This significant update is set to enhance the user experience by allowing the sharing of high-quality multimedia content.

HD Photo and Video Sharing: What’s New?

WhatsApp users can now send photos and videos in High Definition (HD), a feature that was previously only available to beta testers. This new update brings WhatsApp at par with other messaging services like iMessage, which already offers this feature.

To use this feature, select a photo or video from your camera roll. You will see a “HD” button at the top of your screen, to the left of the crop tool. Clicking on this button will open a menu where you can choose between “Standard Quality” or “HD Quality” for your media.

If you don’t see this button yet, don’t worry. It might take a while for the update to show up in your App Store.

Why is This Update Significant?

Prior to this update, WhatsApp users could only send images in very compressed quality. This limitation was a significant disadvantage for WhatsApp compared to its competitors. With the introduction of HD photos and videos, users can now share their moments in much higher quality.

Other Noteworthy Updates

This update comes amid several other significant updates aimed at making WhatsApp more competitive, especially in the business sphere. Meta has released a native version of WhatsApp for macOS, which supports video calls of up to eight participants and audio calls of up to 32. Screen Sharing is also newly available for the platform, as are unnamed group chats.
